    Position Purpose
    Maintain corporation grounds, playgrounds, athletic fields, parking lots, walkways and roadways in a clean and safe manner while promoting the mission of Perry Township Schools. Provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment for all district sites, associated buildings and adjacent grounds.
    Essential Job Functions
    • Maintains and cares for school grounds and athletic fields.
    • Cuts and maintains lawns with hand or power mowers.
    • Prepares seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil or adding fertilizer or chemicals, if needed.
    • Plants seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings and shrubbery.
    • Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees or shrubs.
    • Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
    • Mows, stripes, and assists in athletic field preparation and maintenance.
    • Shovels snow from sidewalks, drives and parking lots
    • Spreads sand, salt or other chemicals to prevent slipping
    • Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting and moving materials
    • Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed
    • Operates equipment and machinery in a fashion to provide a safe, natural environment
    • Maintains and adjusts equipment such as mowers, irrigation systems and trimmers
    • Repairs outdoor chairs, benches and other items as needed
    • Maintains a professional attitude and a positive relationship with stakeholders at all times
    • Promotes a harassment and discriminatory-free environment
    • Demonstrates a commitment to work
    • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
    • Demonstrates good judgment and common sense
    • Available to work additional hours and/or be on call as required to meet the needs of the position
    • Assist with snow and ice removal.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.
    Equipment
    Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and hand tools.
    Travel Requirements
    Frequent travel between schools, or between school and the Central Office may be required.
    Pay Rate
    $19.48 per hour.
    Work Schedule
    8 hours per day
    260 days per year.

    • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and a positive relationship with stakeholders at all times.
    • Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned.
    • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
    • Ability to read and write.
    • Knowledge that while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, dust, odors, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, freezing wet and/ or humid conditions, wet/ slippery surfaces, risk of shock, vibration and varying levels of noise/ sound.
